Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has suggested in the Bleacher Report that Manchester United should sell Angel di Maria and sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid as his replacement.
Di Maria, 27, moved to United from Spanish giants Madrid in the summer of 2014, but he has been largely a disappointment so far this season.
Meanwhile, after a strong debut season for Los Blancos in 2013-14, former Tottenham Hotspur winger Bale has come under criticisms for his underwhelming performances this campaign.
Collymore is still a fan of Bale and claims that he would be a good signing for United next season.
“The simple solution for me would be Manchester United allowing Angel Di Maria to join Paris Saint-Germain and bring in Gareth Bale,” the 44-year-old wrote on the Bleacher Report.
“It is time for Gareth Bale to come home, and the perfect fit would be Manchester United,” added Collymore.
Bale is one of the best players in Europe, and he would indeed be a good signing for United.
The Wales international knows the Premier League inside out, and his pace would be terrifying for opposition defenders.
However, perhaps Collymore is being too hasty in writing off Di Maria, who, after all, joined United only in the summer of 2014.
While the Argentina international winger has fizzled out after a good start to his debut campaign in the Premier League, he is a world-class winger and a superb footballer.
