Report: Tottenham youngster Dele Alli nominated for League One Player of the Year award

Alli is one of three shortlisted for the Football League award.

Just months after signing for Tottenham Hotspur, and then returning to MK Dons on loan, Alli has been nominated for the Football League League One Player of the Year award.

The 19-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a fantastic season in League One, Alli’s 14 goals in 33 appearances have also seen him nominated for the Football League Young Player of the Year award.

He was awarded with his first taste of Under-19 football for England at the beginning of this campaign, and after showing his ability he won a transfer to Premier League side Spurs in January, heading back to Milton Keynes on loan until the end of the campaign.

The nomination is incredible considering this young age, and Alli is in the running for an award that has previous winners including Jermain Beckford of Leeds, Jordan Rhodes of Huddersfield and Matt Ritchie of Bournemouth.

Fighting for the award alongside Alli are two other exceptional League One performers, in Bristol City’s Luke Freeman and Preston’s Joe Garner.

Freeman is the creative spark in a Bristol side who recently won promotion back to the Championship, whilst Garner is the goalscorer for the Lilywhites, as they look to secure automatic promotion to the second tier in the coming weeks.
