Report: Manchester United resurrect interest in midfielder Miralem Pjanic

Manchester United are reportedly vying with Liverpool for Roma's Miralem Pjanic.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United will resurrect their interest in Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic - despite admiring glances from Liverpool.

United have certainly found one midfield star in Ander Herrera, but Louis van Gaal certainly needs more this summer if he is to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

The Mirror believe that Bosnian international playmaker Pjanic is on United's radar after another impressive season with Roma, where has scored four goals and notched four assists.

The 25-year-old is highly regarded, with many believing that he is one of the finest midfielders in Europe right now - hence United's alleged interest in him, which has now reportedly been resurrected after initial interest in him all the way back in 2013, as suggested by The Telegraph.

However, they're not the only Premier League team keeping tabs on Pjanic, with The Mirror also noting that Liverpool want to bring him to England this summer.

The Reds need another midfielder at the end of the season with Steven Gerrard heading off to MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy - and The Mirror believe Liverpool see Pjanic as the ideal Gerrard replacement, despite Roma quoting them a fee of £37m for the former Lyon man in January.

This now puts the two fierce rivals on a collision course this summer, with Pjanic's future at the heart of the battle - but Manchester United's imminent qualification for the Champions League will surely put them at the front of the queue.
