Leroy Fer sends compassionate message to Siem de Jong on Twitter

The Queens Park Rangers midfielder took to social media to send a message to his compatriot at Newcastle United.

QPR midfielder Leroy Fer sent Newcastle's Siem de Jong a message of encouragement on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

De Jong has suffered an injury-ravaged campaign for the Magpies, with knee problems and a collapsed lung keeping him out of Premier League action for several months on Tyneside.

But the Newcastle star made a successful comeback for the Under-21s last night and is now in contention to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

And QPR's Fer, who is De Jong's Dutch compatriot, is delighted that the 26-year-old is back playing for Newcastle, encouraging him to keep going.

It's a sentiment Newcastle fans will no doubt echo, with De Jong appearing to have the ability in the final third the current Magpies side is so desperately missing.

The Dutchman wouldn't be a magical answer to the St James' Park outfit's problems, of course, with John Carver's men still in woeful form overall at present.

But a De Jong return would certainly provide a boost - just like QPR man Fer's message to the Newcastle star will no doubt be a boost for him.
