The Belgian has impressed the Spaniard this season.
Roberto Martinez has been discussing the future of Belgian youngster David Henen. The talented forward, who has been in great form for the Everton under-21 side recently, was linked with a permanent move to the club, as reported by Metro.
Today Martinez spoke about the forward in his official press conference, as present on Everton's official YouTube channel:
"David has been doing really really well. He has been achieving all the targets that we have in his development. It is something we are going to reassess at the end of the season. There are many games left before we can make a decision. It has been a really successful story so far."
Henen's signing was truly a confusing one.
He trained with the club throughout the summer but then joined Greek side Olympiakos from Anderlecht at the last minute. He was then immediately loaned back to Everton for 12 months.
The Liverpool Echo explained the deal in September last year. Martinez wanted him, but had concerns over his attitude and application - so balked at the £300,000 asking price. Olympiakos snapped him up, loaned him to Everton, who have a £500,000 buying option on the player shoukd he prove himself.
It looks like he has done that, so Everton may indeed decide to bring him in permanently after a settled and productive year in the under-21s.
