A whopping eight new courses, three new characters and four new vehicles will be in the Mario Kart 8 DLC that launches on the Nintendo WiiU next week.

Back on April 1st, a raft of updates and improvements were announced for Mario Kart 8 on Nintendo Direct as reported by WiiUDaily.

The main talking points from that announcement, apart from the release date of April 23rd, was that an Animal Crossing course - featured in the video below - would be included in the pack to be downloaded from the Nintendo eShop. The other major news was that, through a simultaneous update, for the first time in the history of the legendary racing series, Nintendo is releasing a 200cc class. It is said to be so fast it made an engadget reviewer "puke".

The class is, unsurprisingly, all about speed and promises to test the player’s ability to break effectively, otherwise they won’t be able to make the turns. Gamers were told the Animal Crossing course will change seasons each time it is played and the trailer showed off some of the new characters in action. But what we didn't know was just how much was going to be packed into the second DLC pack.

New characters included in the DLC are Villager, Isabelle and Dry Bowser. The latest vehicles skidding into the game are the Bone Rattler, City Tripper, Streetle and the P-Wing.

But what will surely excite fans the most is the number of new tracks on the way. You've already heard about Animal Crossing but also in the DLC comes seven others to master including Big Blue, Super Bell Subway, Wild Woods, Baby Park, Cheese Land, Koopa City and what is presumably a fun new take on the famous Rainbow Road in Ribbon Road.

And that's not all! The game itself will be updated to make some features available to all players whether they splash out on the DLC or not. The 200cc mode will be added during the update to launch alongside the DLC.
