Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward has praised the squad's mentality.
Joel Ward has told the London Evening Standard that he thinks Crystal Palace are unique because of the mentality of their squad.
Palace have shown their fighting spirit in the past two years and Ward doesn't believe there is another team in the Premier League with as much mental strength as they have.
The 25-year-old says that the entire team in united and he believes that as a result, with a small amount of guidance from Alan Pardew, the Eagles were always going to do well.
“We are unique in the sense that we have got fantastic character and unity about us," he enthused. "He has just come in and added to that with the organisation and direction, and we are creating an identity in the way we play."
Palace have started to forge a reputation for themselves as one of the most dangerous attacking sides in the top-flight since Pardew has taken charge.
The former Newcastle United boss has given the tricky Yannick Bolasie, Jason Puncheon and Wilfried Zaha freedom to operate and the Eagles have benefitted from it.
The side have climbed the Premier League table at a rapid rate and the future looks particularly exciting at the moment.
That is part of the reason why Ward has committed his future to the club, with the defender signing a new long-term deal yesterday.
