The former Reds midfielder has been full of praise for his old club.
As such, Brendan Rodgers will need a new pass-master to orchestrate play from the centre of the park ahead of next season.
One of the best midfielders that the Kop have witnessed in their side in recent years was Xabi Alonso, who starred for the club in the mid-2000’s.
The cultured Spaniard was a star in the side that won the Champions League in 2005, with the veteran Bayern Munich man an illustrious part of the English club’s recent history.
Liverpool’s fortunes dipped when Alonso left Anfield to join Real Madrid, with it taking the Reds until recently to get back to the same stature.
Alonso has recently spoken out about his time with Liverpool and has stated that the famous Anfield outfit are the best team in England.
“When I left Liverpool it was a difficult decision,” Alonso told The Telegraph.
“When I left Madrid it was difficult, but the feeling I had in my career was to try different experiences and Bayern is a great club.
“It is a good experience. I like football and the clubs I have been at have been traditional, historic clubs who are seen all over the world. They have prestige and tradition, but have remained in the elite of European football.
“That is who I like to play for: teams who are important for football history. Liverpool, for me, the best in England, Madrid, for me, the best in Spain and Bayern, the best in Germany.”
Bayern are set to play against Porto in the first leg of their Champions League tonight, with the veteran Spaniard hoping to get one step closer to becoming a European champion for the third time.
