Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino may be advised to consider bringing Mousa Dembele back into his starting line-up before the end of the season, as he looks to get his side firing again.
Spurs have looked fatigued in recent performances against Aston Villa and Burnley, with the effects of their gruelling season seemingly catching up with some members of their first-team squad.
Spurs have had to compete in the Premier League and the Europa League, while their run to the final of the League Cup has seen games mount up.
With a lack of cover in his squad, Pochettino has struggled to rotate this campaign and it seems that the negative impact of that is now being felt.
Spurs have looked lethargic of late, with some of their key stars well off the pace.
The likes of Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane, who had offered so much to Spurs' attack during the early part of the campaign, have not managed to find top form in recent matches and it seems strange, therefore, that Dembele cannot get a look in.
Dembele had put in a series of excellent performances at the start of the year and looked to have a vital part to play for Spurs.
The Belgian international's skill and creativity behind the striker had enhanced Spurs' offensive weaponry and, as a result, it is surprising that he seems to have become ostracised now.
Dembele has not made a start for the Lilywhites since February 22nd, and he has not even made it onto the pitch since the March 21st when Spurs beat Leicester 4-3.
With so many of Tottenham's squad tiring, it is surely time for Pochettino to reintroduce him to the team, isn’t it? Dembele may not be the long-term solution to Tottenham's current problems, but he surely represents a good option for the club at this time.
