A round up of morning news stories related to Manchester United.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been quoted by FourFourTwo grading his own impact since he joined the club.

Shaw has shown flashes of why the club invested a heavy fee to sign him from Southampton last summer.

However, he’s been inconsistently used in the left-back role by manager Louis van Gaal.

“It's been a frustrating one because of the injuries I've picked up but I’m loving it. If I was to write a school report on my first season here I'd give myself a C-,” he said.

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has been quoted by City AM predicting a league title for his old club under Louis van Gaal.

United have been in improved form over the last few weeks as van Gaal’s team have consolidated their position in the top four.

The main aim this season was getting Champions League football back, which could also help the Dutchman improve the squad this summer.

“It’s a great club. It will be at the top of the table - They came back and next year they can win the league,” said the Frenchman.

Manchester United’s Daley Blind has been quoted by the Daily Mail suggesting an inspirational team talk was the reason for the side’s performance in the Manchester derby last weekend.

United defeated local rivals Manchester City 4-2 and the Dutchman has revealed it was captain Wayne Rooney who whipped up an atmosphere before the match.

“Everyone knew how important this game was, not only because it's a rat race in the last games, but also because of the history of the last four games. Wayne Rooney mentioned that in the dressing room before the game,” said Blind.
