Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Edinson Cavani's performance for PSG

Manchester United fans were unimpressed with Edinson Cavani's performance for PSG.

Manchester United fans were distinctly unimpressed with Edinson Cavani's display for PSG in their Champions League loss at home to Barcelona.

The Mail reported earlier this month United were monitoring the Uruguayan striker with a view to a potential summer move, with the Sunday Express reported he is their top target.

Cavani was ineffective in the 3-1 defeat, which was a great chance for him to impress potential suitors in England and in Spain.

He managed only 36 touches in 90 minutes, and was unable to step up and shine with Zlatan Ibrahimovic suspended. He did land two shots on target but they were not enough to beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the Barcelona goal.

Cavani was caught offside four times in the match, to the frustrations of the PSG crowd, and did not look like a player worth £40 million plus.

For United he would be a big risk, given the way Radamel Falcao has simply not worked out this season, scoring only four times.

Cavani's record of eight goals in 28 Ligue 1 matches in 2014/15 is also a concern, and Manchester United supporters made their feelings about him clear via Twitter during and after the Champions League quarter-final.
