It has recently been reported, by Kicker, that Arsenal were ready to swoop in on the German international midfielder.
Manchester United have previously been mentioned as keen on the player, but reports from the Mirror today suggest they are no longer keen, although Manchester City are.
This week has certainly been a dramatic one for Gundogan, as it was revealed his manager Jurgen Klopp would be leaving Dortmund in the summer.
It has been a difficult season for the club. Injuries and a dip in form saw them struggle for much of the campaign, at one point they were bottom of the Bundesliga. Klopp clearly believes that this is the right time to step down.
And Gundogan, who spent 14 months on the sidelines recently with a trapped nerve in his back, is clearly one player sad to see Klopp leave.
He posted this message on his official Twitter account earlier today:
Arsenal, who Kicker report bid £18.4 million for Gundogan in January, and Manchester City will no doubt be hoping the departure of his manager may lead him to consider his future at the club, perhaps leading him to the Premier League.
