Newcastle boss John Carver has confirmed 'fantastic' Daryl Janmaat can return to his natural right-back position against Tottenham this Sunday afternoon, according to the club's official Twitter feed.
The Magpies host the north London side having lost their last five games on the bounce - a run that has only extended their simply awful record under Carver.
Newcastle will perhaps find some encouragement, however, in the fact that they beat Tottenham 2-1 at White Hart Lane earlier this season.
And the ability to play Janmaat at right-back should also finally offer Carver and co a boost they sorely need going into the Premier League clash.
Indeed, the Newcastle boss has praised his right-back for his ability to cover in the centre of defence but believes the Dutchman's return to his natural position could prove a crucial tactical switch against Spurs.
"I think he's been fantastic. He had to go in at centre-back and did ever so well," Carver told reporters during his pre-Spurs press conference.
"The good news is he's now going to be back in his best position. He will also give us an attacking threat down the right-hand side because he likes to get forward and he can create - so that's another plus."
Both Tottenham and Newcastle have struggled of late, although the Magpies' struggles are considerably worse and have been for the majority of the current campaign.
Carver will no doubt hope an injection of Janmaat energy will help avoid yet another lifeless Newcastle display at St James' Park.
