The Dutch centre-back confirmed that he now feels up to full fitness after his recent injury woe.
The Dutchman has had a difficult season regarding injuries and Villa have missed his presence.
But he now says he is 100% fit. Talking to Soccer Vision, the agency that represents his professional interests, he stated:
"It is now well; I am one hundred percent fit. I do not even know how long I stood next to it, it's been frustrating enough.
"I had always been really excited [to return], but it was not to be. I can look back but that does not make sense. What happened, happened. Now I just want to look ahead."
Until recently Vlaar had only featured in 14 games for Villa this season, but he has recovered from his niggling injury problems to feature in their last two games, a 3-3 draw with QPR and a 1-0 triumph at Tottenham Hotspur.
His return from injury should help solidify the Villa back-four going into the end of the season, as they continue to fight relegation from the top-flight.
But after the win against Spurs at the weekend Villa are looking on the verge of safety. With Vlaar back in the side, Villa fans will be even more confident of that.
Vlaar's future however remains up in the air. He is out of contract at the end of the season and his impressive performances at international level have likely caught the eye of some very big teams.
Villa will hope survival sees him sign a new contract.
