Champions League: Juventus v AS Monaco Combined XI

Who would make a combined XI from players of Juventus and AS Monaco for tonight's Champions League clash.

On Tuesday night, Juventus face AS Monaco in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. It is a huge chance for both sides to reach the last four, and despite starting favourites the Serie A club need to be wary of how Arsenal fell to Monaco’s sword.

There are some great battles all over the pitch, but who would make a combined XI?

Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) – It’s hard to look past one of the great ‘keepers of all time. Danijel Subasic is enjoying a great season, but Buffon is on another level.

Right-Back: Stephane Lichtsteiner (Juventus) – Whether it is at full-back or wing-back, the Swiss defender is one of the best at bombing up the line and providing support.

Centre-Back: Leandro Bonucci (Juventus) – He pips teammate Cheillini due to his consistency, and he is less likely to fall over at the crucial moment.

Centre-Back: Aymen Abdennour (AS Monaco) – The Tunisian has been a rock since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. Imperious in the area.

Left-Back: Layvin Kurzawa (AS Monaco) – He gets the nod ahead of French veteran Patrice Evra. Kurzawa is dynamic going forward and is a real thorn in the opposition side.

Central Midfield: Andrea Pirlo (Juventus) – Legendary with the ball at his feet, he also reads the game incredibly well which cancels out his lack of pace.

Central Midfield: Geoffrey Kondobgia (AS Monaco) – It may have been different if Paul Pogba had been fit for Tuesday’s game. Kondogbia brings a lot of the same qualities and has the potential to reach the same level.

Central Midfield: Arturo Vidal (Juventus) – The energy and drive Vidal brings is irreplaceable. He is also deadly from in and around the penalty box.

Attacking Midfield: Joao Moutinho (AS Monaco) – After a slow start the Portuguese playmaker is starting to dictate games in Ligue 1.

Centre Forward: Anthony Martial (AS Monaco) – With six goals in five games, the young striker is in hot form right now, and he has the pace and skill to cause problems from anywhere upfront.

Centre Forward: Carlos Tevez (Juventus) – The Argentine forward is the perfect blend of heart and skill. He never stops running and has the ability to punish you when you take a breather.
