Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor took a trip to Paris over the weekend.
The centre forward let supporters know of his trip via his Facebook page, uploading a video of himself dancing in front of the Arc de Triomphe.
His post however did not have the desired effect he may have wanted, birthday or not.
Here are a few of the responses from Tottenham fans, unhappy with the Togo international:
"So while spurs pay ur way over payed wages u go on holiday ur a disgrace to football."
"You are an absolute disgrace to our club, fans and football in general. What kind of role model are you to the youth of today? We pay your extortionate wages, whilst you go on holiday and the team is struggling!! Most fans can only afford a couple of games a season, due to the increase in prices, and even then the ticket is purchased by way of a credit card because the likes of you are pricing true fans away from the game! The sooner you leave our beloved club, the better. You have lost the support of many Spurs fans who have defended your actions time and time again."
Others took a chance to defend the out of favour striker:
"What's the issue? When did he do this? And if he is not involved and not required??? I'd say he would rather be playing myself. Probably very depressed at things actually..."
"Do you guys want him to select himself for the starting 11 or what? You guys are the disgusting."
Tottenham suffered a weekend defeat against Tim Sherwood's Aston Villa, a manager who showed faith in the attacker last season. Under Mauricio Pochettino despite being handed the vice-captaincy at the start of the season, he is a non-factor for the side at present, struggling to make the substitute's bench.
Adebayor last week used his Twitter page to let fans know he has no plans to leave the club, with one year on his contract remaining.
