If there is one player who has been in fine form for Manchester United this season, it’s Michael Carrick.

Statistics from this season have also shown how important the 33-year-old is to his side, with the Red Devils having enjoyed a much better win percentage with him in the side than without him.

The midfielder’s performances have come in for praise from all angles, with his recent introduction into England’s midfield at half time against Italy being linked with his country getting back into the game.

The latest of those top performances came in Manchester derby, with Carrick playing a key role in his side’s eventual 4-2 victory. We decided to take a look at his stats from the game to see his importance.

Passing has always been Carrick’s strong point, and in this game it was no different, with the ex-Tottenham man making 62 total passes and 57 of them being accurate, a success rate of 91%.

Of those 62 passes, an impressive 20 were forward ones, while just six were backward, demonstrating the midfielder’s desire to get his team on the attack as often as possible.

Elsewhere he was equally impressive, having made 73 touches in the game and every one of them being successful, while he also made four interceptions and won each of those as well.

An all round impressive performance from Carrick, whose importance to Manchester United continues to grow.
