Aston Villa have joined the hunt for Wolverhampton Wanderers' winger Bakary Sako, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The Birmingham Mail suggested just last week that new Villa boss Sherwood was already searching for potential transfer options this week and Sako is apparently on his list of targets.
The Wolves wide-man becomes a free agent in the summer, with his contract expiring, and he could make a bargain buy for the Claret and Blues.
What would the impact be for Villa if they signed Sako?
Although Sako has never played in the Premier League before, his talent has made him one of the most feared forward-thinking players outside the top-flight.
Pacey, powerful and direct, Sako is a threat to any defence and he would fit in well with Villa's current attacking system.
Sherwood has looked to utilise the masses of pace Villa have at their disposal since taking over and Sako would add even more quality in this area.
He, therefore, looks a good fit and if Villa are able to pick him up without paying a fee he could turn out to be one of the best pieces of business the club have completed in a considerable amount of time.
