Report: Neil Lennon interested in reuniting with Anthony Stokes at Bolton

Bolton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Celtic striker Anthony Stokes.

Bolton Wanderers manager Neil Lennon is interested in signing Celtic striker Anthony Stokes this summer, according to The Scotsman.

The Trotters have put their faith in experienced duo Eidur Gudjonsson and Emile Heskey this season, but manager Lennon will almost certainly be looking to bring in another striker this summer.

Now, The Scotsman believe that Lennon is interested in swooping on his former club Celtic, with forward Stokes believed to be on his shopping list.

26-year-old Stokes, who has earned nine caps for the Republic of Ireland, has often featured on the left hand side of midfielder under Celtic boss Ronny Deila this season, with the Norwegian preferring to use Leigh Griffiths and John Guidetti in attack.

A summer exit could be on the cards for the former Arsenal trainee, especially having been fined by Deila recently for returning late from Ireland.

That may interest Lennon, with The Scotsman suggesting that the Bolton boss is keen on a reunion with Stokes this summer as he looks to improve his squad at the Macron Stadium.

Stokes struggled to make an impact in English football with Sunderland, but may be looking to give it another shot if Bolton do come calling.
