Report: Former Arsenal defender has half-time fist fight with ex-West Ham ace

Johann Djourou

Former Premier League stars involved in altercation at Hamburg.

Hamburg teammates Johan Djourou and Valon Behrami were involved in a half-time fight in the dressing room at the weekend, report German newspaper BILD.

1-0 down to Wolfsburg after 45 minutes, the duo had an argument which quickly escalated into a physical altercation.

BILD report Djourou and Behrami ended up both on the floor of the dressing room, hitting each other, with the newspaper describing 'a fierce fist fight'.

Djourou is a former Arsenal centre-back, while Behrami is also remembered in England for his time with West Ham United.

The pair are even Swiss international teammates, and managed to patch up their differences for the second half.

Letting the aggression out of their systems did not work out to Hamburg's benefit. They went onto suffer a 2-0 home loss, and Djourou was sent off in the 88th minute for a second bookable offence.

The result kept Wolfsburg in second place, 10 points behind leaders Bayern, while for Hamburg the situation is far worse.

Hamburg are bottom of the Bundesliga table with 25 points from 28 games. It's easy to see why their players could have let frustration get the better of them, but clearly it was not enough to spark the reaction they needed.
