West Brom fans react on Twitter to Gareth McAuley performance v Leicester City

The veteran defender did not have one of his best days at the office.

It was a special day at West Brom yesterday, as they paid homage to their club legend Jeff Astle. However, the poignant day did not end well for the team.

They lost to relegation candidates Leicester City at The Hawthorns after Jamie Vardy netted a late winner and sent the away fans into raptures.

It was another poor result from The Baggies, following on from there 4-1 trouncing v QPR last weekend. It was their third defeat in a row and, on just 32 points, they are not out of the relegation battle just yet.

So how can they turn things around?

One idea West Brom fans have is to pull out Gareth McAuley from the first-team. The 35-year-old is undoubtedly a fantastic servant to the club. But age is not doing him any favours. His form has dropped in recent times and it has shown.

He has always lacked pace, but his decision making is also beginning to go and it would seem his time in the starting line-up is seemingly coming to an end.

Here is some of the best reaction on Twitter to his poor performance...
