Crystal Palace’s Bolasie good enough for a top four side, says Murphy

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has praised the Crystal Palace winger following his hat-trick on Saturday.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has hailed Crystal Palace’s Yannick Bolasie on BBC's Match of the Day.

The pacey winger scored an impressive 11-minute hat-trick against Premier League strugglers Sunderland on Saturday afternoon to help his side to a comprehensive 4-1 win.

That remarkable performance was the latest in a long line of similar displays this season, with the player’s pace and penchant for tricks catching the eye of fans and pundits alike.

However, the one thing missing from his displays has been goals, something that was clearly not the case against Sunderland, and Murphy says adding a cutting edge to his game will attract bigger clubs to Palace’s star man.

“He’s a terrific talent and I think the one thing that was missing was end product,” said Murphy.

“Now he’s starting to add goals to his game, if he can do that consistently the only worry for Palace is if they can keep hold of him.”

Bolasie’s performances this season, especially those since manager Alan Pardew took charge, will definitely have garnered attention from a number of clubs looking to add that type of player to their ranks.

However, whether the Eagles would be willing to sell their star man is another matter entirely, while the winger would likely command a considerable fee if he were to be prised away.

Murphy though, thinks Bolasie is definitely good enough to play for either a team in the top six, or even the top four.

“Is he capable of being a top four or top six player? I think he is. It’s just a case of keeping hold of him,” he added.
