Leeds fans react on Twitter to Kalvin Phillips' 'brilliant' performance against Cardiff

Leeds fans were certainly impressed with Kalvin Phillips' performance against Cardiff City.

Leeds United recent run of defeats has been extended to three in a row after losing 2-1 to Cardiff City at Elland Road on Saturday.

After losing 3-0 and 4-3 to Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the Easter period, manager Neil Redfearn was hoping to see a change in fortunes against Cardiff.

However, goals from Sean Morrison and Aron Gunnarsson handed Cardiff all three points, though an equalising goal from Kalvin Phillips was sandwiched in between those Bluebirds goals.

The result leaves Leeds in 15th place in the Championship table, and with the season petering out, Leeds fans don't have a great deal to shout about right now.

However, the bright spot of the afternoon was midfielder Phillips, who marked his first Elland Road start with the first half goal for Leeds.

The 19-year-old is now the latest player to emerge from the Leeds youth academy, following fellow graduates Charlie Taylor, Sam Byram, Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt into the first team.

Phillips impressed, taking his goal well and contributing in midfield in what was an otherwise dismal afternoon for Leeds, and their fans were full of praise for the teenager on Twitter after the game.

Fans labelled Phillips 'brilliant', whilst also suggesting that he has the passion and desire to play for Leeds on a regular basis.
