The former Reds attacker has stated that the Belgian has been critical in the Reds’ run towards Wembley.
The Belgium international came in for criticism at the start of the season for a number of individual errors and was dropped by Brendan Rodgers for a period.
When the deputising Brad Jones picked up an injury the former Sunderland stopper was reinstated and has looked like a different man since.
With Mignolet playing a considerable role in Liverpool’s improved Premier League form since the turn of the year and run to the FA Cup semi-finals, Dalglish has come out in praise of the goalkeeper.
“Credit to Simon Mignolet, who has done as much as anybody to get Liverpool to the FA Cup semi-finals,” the Scot wrote in his column in The Mirror.
“He produced a fantastic save at the end of the first game against Blackburn that finished 0-0. And he made a couple more good saves at Ewood Park this week.
“He has been criticised in some quarters this season. But, somewhere along the line, if you are going to win a trophy, there is always something along the way that sticks in your mind.
“Liverpool could say they have been quite fortunate in the FA Cup. And one of the reasons is Simon has pulled off a couple of fantastic saves to help them get to the last four.
“Simon does better than a lot of people give him credit for.
“He has made some fantastic saves this season and can feel comfortable with his contribution to Liverpool’s cup run so far.”
Mignolet made a number of smart early saves for the Merseysiders against Arsenal last week in the early exchanges, but was powerless to stop the goals in a 4-1 defeat.
He will look to play his part in the Reds stopping the rot against Newcastle on Monday night and will need to be at his best if the Anfield outfit are to win the FA Cup this season.
