Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says youngster Jordon Ibe has looked ‘absolutely sensational’ in training as he makes a return from injury, the Daily Mail report.
The 19-year-old winger has been out of action since February with knee ligament damage, and his presence has been sorely missed in recent weeks.
Following successive defeats against Manchester United and Arsenal, the Reds find themselves seven points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City ahead of Monday’s must-win clash at home to Newcastle United.
The Merseysiders are in need a boost, and boss Rodgers feels his side can get one from the returning Ibe as he revels in his training ground performances this weekend.
"Young Jordon Ibe will come back in and I've got to say he's looked absolutely sensational in training," Rodgers was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
"He's been out for a while but he's been a couple of weeks now out on the field doing his preparation work and he's joined in the training.”
"He's looked absolutely outstanding. He's got real natural fitness and he'll come into the squad for Monday night.”
Ibe spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County, scoring five goals in 20 appearances in all competitions.
He returned to Anfield during the January transfer window where he was entrusted to start the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in an unfamiliar wing-back role, earning the Man of the Match award.
The England U19 international has a big future at Anfield, but his immediate task will be to help regain form and secure a morale-boosting victory over a struggling Newcastle side.
