Both have recently been out injured with differing severity of knee problems.

Liverpool take on Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday night and judging by the training photos from Melwood today two players who have recently been absent with knee injuries could make a return.

Both Jon Flanagan and Jordon Ibe were snapped in action for Liverpool in their training session today, suggesting both could make an appearance.

Flanagan had an exceptional 2013-14 season. Brendan Rodgers roped in the youngster last season and he really impressed at the back for the club. He played 25 games last season and earned his first England cap against Ecuador in the summer.

He even scored his first goal for the club, netting against Tottenham Hotspur in a 5-0 win in December 2013.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse in the summer. He picked up a knee injury in pre-season and has not played a single game this campaign.

He is however now working on his recovery and will hope to make an appearance for the club before the end of the season - perhaps against Newcastle?

Ibe has played seven times for The Reds since his return to Anfield from an impressive loan spell with Derby County, but was unfortunately cut down in his stride.

Ibe picked up a knee injury at the end of February and has not played since a fixture against Besiktas in Turkey.

But both looked fighting fit in training and will be hoping for a return to action for Liverpool this Monday.
