Pochettino succeeded Sherwood as the Spurs boss last summer following the dismissal of the latter.
Sherwood is currently in charge of Villa and will face the North London outfit in a Premier League clash on Saturday.
This is the first time that the Englishman will return to White Hart Lane since being sacked by Spurs, and Pochettino has shown his respect for him.
The Argentine boss has also underlined the similarities between him and Sherwood and told Sky Sports: “I think that we share the same idea, we believe in the young talent.
“This is great, like when I started my career as a manager at Espanyol in Barcelona. We believe it was the same things, to encourage and develop the young talent.”
Sherwood worked at Tottenham for years and was important in the early development of players such Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb.
Indeed, the 46-year-old handed Bentaleb his first-team debut for Spurs last season, and the Algeria international is now one of the most important players in Pochettino’s team.
Pochettino has continued to invest that faith in young players this season, making Kane and Mason instrumental players in his team.
