Report: Newcastle United and West Ham target Moussa Konate scouted by Ligue 1 side

Saint-Etienne are reportedly keen on the Senegalese hitman.

Moussa Konate is certainly appearing to be a player who will interest Premier League sides this summer. The forward first caught the eye at the London Olympics with Senegal and is now scoring goals for fun in Switzerland.

He has netted 11 times in 18 games for FC Sion this season - which has reportedly stirred interest from Newcastle United and West Ham.

Last month the Daily Mail reported that Newcastle had scouted the 22-year-old in action.

Toward the end of March West Ham United were linked with a move for the player by The Mirror.

But they face a challenge from across the water. French side Saint-Etienne are now reportedly scouting the player.

It has been reported by Radio Television Suisse, as relayed by Top Mercato, that Les Verts are keeping tabs on the player in a bid to improve their striking options.

The report claims he will be a replacement for Ricky van Wolfswinkel, who will be sent back to Norwich City at the end of the current campaign.

Scouts have reportedly checked him out in action meaning Newcastle and West Ham both have a serious contender in the battle for the talented Senegalese forward.

Both clubs already have members of the Senegal national team among their ranks, which could prove in their favour, but the comfort of French football will also prove a lure for the young hitman.
