Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has told the club’s official website that he and his teammates need to be aggressive against Aston Villa on Saturday.
The North London outfit will head into the Premier League clash at White Hart Lane on the back of a goalless draw with Burnley.
Lamela is determined to help Spurs return to winning ways and maintain their challenge for a top-four finish in the league this season.
“I hope we can do well against them,” the Argentina international told Tottenham’s official website. “It was not a good game for us against Burnley last week but we can change that this weekend.
“I hope we can win so that we can finish the season well. We need to play very aggressively and try to get the three points.”
Tottenham will be favourites to win against Villa, but they cannot become complacent and need to be on top of their game right from the start.
The Villans have been rejuvenated under manager Tim Sherwood, who will return to White Hart Lane for the first time since he was sacked as the Spurs boss at the end of last season.
Villa are struggling for survival in the Premier League and will probably be happy with a point, which means that the onus is on Mauricio Pochettino’s side to go on the attack.
Tottenham certainly have the attacking firepower to overcome Villa, but defensively they remain susceptible.
With pressure piling on the players, it will be interesting to see how Spurs react to their disappointing performance against Burnley last weekend.
