Akpom, who joined Forest on loan from Arsenal recently, is an injury doubt ahead of Saturday's fixture but says he wants to feature for Dougie Freedman's team.
The 19-year-old is only with Nottingham Forest until the end of the current campaign, meaning they may take a chance on getting the absolute most out of him they can.
Should Akpom stay at the City Ground beyond the summer, though, that kind of thinking may not be such an immediate priority for Freedman and co.
game day tomorrow , hopefully im fully fit to play and get the 3 points with the boys— Chuba Akpom (@cakpom) April 10, 2015
Ahead of the Huddersfield clash, Nottingham Forest boss Freedman revealed Akpom could potentially play on Saturday - although he also said there was a possibility it would come too soon.
The reason, as Freedman explained, was that the 19-year-old hadn't trained all week. The Forest boss spoke on Thursday afternoon and said Akpom could returning to training on Friday.
The Nottingham Forest forward is clearly raring to go, however, so it'll come down to whether Freedman feels it's worth risking the teenager or whether he's best kept preserved for Forest's future fixtures.
Forest are 10 points ahead of Huddersfield going into Saturday's match, which translates to an eight-place gap between the two Championship sides at present.
