Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez has told the club's official site that he doesn't believe Tim Sherwood will be affected by a return to Tottenham Hotspur.
Villa travel to White Hart Lane to face Spurs on Saturday, but Sanchez doesn't think that Sherwood will be influenced by returning to his former club.
The Colombian midfielder insists that his new manager's focus is solely on guiding Villa to safety and he doesn't believe Sherwood's feelings about Tottenham will alter his approach to the match.
"His concentration is now on Villa, I've got no doubt about that," he said. "Going back to Tottenham for the first time as an opposition manager won't affect him at all. He's professional, driven and determined to get a good result."
Villa have improved under Sherwood, especially in an attacking sense, but they are still some way away from safety.
The Claret and Blues are currently three points above the relegation zone, but they have played a game more than the teams around them and could be dragged back into trouble, if their form does dip.
Villa have lost their last two Premier League matches and it will be important that they avoid defeat at White Hart Lane.
Doing so could be difficult, though, as Tottenham are one of the stronger teams in the division. Mauricio Pochettino has created a strong unit and Villa will have to be at their very best if they are to combat Spurs' threat.
