Spurs have perfect chance to give this exciting academy duo their full debuts

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has a good chance to test out some of the club's brighter young talents.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has the perfect opportunity to blood youngsters Harry Winks and Joshua Onomah in his first-team set-up before this campaign finishes.

Onomah and Winks are considered to be two of Tottenham's brightest up-and-coming prospects and they have trained alongside the senior squad all season.

Their chances of receiving regular competitive first-team football so far, though, have been limited, with the pair both making just one appearance in all competitions.

It means that most of their football has been played for the Lilywhites' development sides, but Pochettino has a great opportunity to test them out more thoroughly in his first-team.

Tottenham's chances of making the top-four appear to be over and the pressure on them to win has been reduced.

Although Spurs will still be looking to finish as high up the Premier League table as possible, the intense need to win that comes with chasing the top-four is no longer a worry.

It means that the environment at White Hart Lane looks ideal for the likes of Onomah and Winks to step into and Pochettino could set himself up nicely for next season by giving them a chance.

If the youngsters thrive then the Argentine boss will know that his need for signings in central midfield will be reduced over the summer, but if they struggle then the Lilywhites can look to send them out on loan next term, as they continue their development process.

Without testing them, it will be hard to gauge if they are ready to make the step up though, and that could cost Spurs in the future, as they look for more of their youngsters to make the breakthrough.
