The Magpies travel to Liverpool on Monday night and, while relegation is only a distant possibility at this point, John Carver's side have been in simply woeful form and would be bottom of the table were the standings based on the last six games.
Injuries continue to plague the Newcastle first team and, as such, a number of young stars have been invited to train with the senior side in recent weeks.
Of them, only Olivier Kemen and Adam Armstrong have made it into the Newcastle matchday squad, although several Under-21 players have regularly featured in practice.
Ahead of Monday's clash, meanwhile, Liverpool will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League and preserve their already wafer-thin Champions League hopes.
As for Newcastle, though, will Carver show any sort of know-how at all this weekend? He hasn't in his time so far at St James' Park...
