Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood will cost his former side points this weekend, predicts pundit Paul Merson.
He believes Spurs will play into Sherwood's tactical plan, which will allow the relegation battlers to escape White Hart Lane with a point.
Merson explained: "Villa love it when teams have a go at them and Spurs will do just that. When teams sit back against Villa, they don’t like it.
"Tim Sherwood has looked at it and thought ‘we aren’t going to keep too many clean sheets, so we’ll have to score our way out of trouble.’ I played with Tim at Portsmouth and he’s a really good lad. A winner."
Merson accurately predicted Spurs would draw with Burnley last week, but has been off with many of his calls this season, expecting them to lose to Leicester City the week before.
Spurs need a win if they are to keep their faint hopes of finishing in the top four alive. They are level with Liverpool, five points away from fourth place, but with Manchester United taking on Manchester City at the weekend there is a chance to make up on at least one of the clubs they are chasing.
Villa are still ruing a 3-3 draw with QPR in midweek they felt they should have won, and are currently three points clear of the relegation zone.
