Liverpool player ratings against Blackburn: Two standout performances

Raheem Sterling

Liverpool fought their way to a tense 1-0 win to secure a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Liverpool battled their way to a 1-0 win as they progressed to the next round of the FA Cup after a tense game against Blackburn Rovers.

It was a significant win considering the recent form of Brendan Rodgers’ team and the boss will be determined for his side to continue progressing in the right way, with their focus now shifting to the game against Newcastle this Monday.

Here are our player ratings for the game.

Mignolet – 7

One of his best games for the club. Made a number of key saves over the course of the game.

Johnson – 7

Pressed forward effectively when he had the chance and did a decent job protecting his own goal.

Lovren – 7

Looked a little raw to begin with, but quickly grew into the game and was rarely troubled.

Sakho – 5

Did a decent basic job and picked up a problem during the game, which saw him removed before the half an hour mark.

Moreno – 6

Did the basics well and was tidy when he was nudged further forward to support the attack.

Lucas – 7

Superb in the middle. Drifted to where the space was to ensure Blackburn found it difficult to build momentum.

Henderson – 7

Led by example throughout the game. Dropped off and did his defensive work well and dragged the attack forward effectively.

Allen – 7

Came into the game more over the second half. Looked quiet early on but saw more of the ball towards the end of the game.

Coutinho – 8

Pulled the strings in behind the main striker. When Liverpool get him on the ball in space, he can destroy any team.

Sterling – 8

Looked better in a wide position when he could utilise his pace when he had space to attack going forward.

Sturridge – 6

Will be frustrated by the way he played. Clear he was lacking some sharpness up front.
