It was another difficult night for Daniel Sturridge at Ewood Park. Though Liverpool may have won - and the Reds' number 15 came close to adding to the side's slender lead only for him to chip the goalkeeper too well from close range - fans are still concerned about his performances.
Admittedly, Sturridge looked a little better with Raheem Sterling playing through the middle a lot more to relieve some of the burden on him.
The 25-year-old's poor first touch, that he was seemingly getting knocked off the ball easily, and his reluctance to go for goal more often are all concerns, as is the rarity of him getting in behind the defence.
The reaction to Sturridge's performance on Twitter among Liverpool fans was negative, but there was a great deal of understanding given the series of injury problems he has had this season - with some acknowledging they may not see the best of the forward who found the net on 24 occasions last season until next term.
Nevertheless, it looks as if Brendan Rodgers will persist with him up front between now and the end of the campaign, and fans are likely to look for signs of improvement.
Here is a flavour of what was said:
Sturridge needs a pre-season. Still doing all the right things, even if his touch and burst of pace are missing. He'll be fine.— Tony (@Tony_K1892) April 8, 2015
The one player who disappointed today was Sturridge. Last season he converted today's chances easily. He cant be fully recovered yet— Alexey Yaroshevsky (@YaroLFC) April 8, 2015
We looked poor in final third at times, mainly because Dan Sturridge looked like he couldn't trap a bag of cement. The play wasn't too bad.— Ste H (@stehoare) April 8, 2015
