How exit-bound Chelsea star could help Liverpool's summer transfer

Petr Cech could sign for Internazionale in the summer, and that could help Liverpool.

As per a report in Calciomercato, Cech is on the verge of signing for Serie A club Internazionale, with first-team chances at Stamford Bridge looking unlikely.

With a ‘keeper of Cech’s quality being signed, it is expected that he will immediately become first choice stopper at the Giuseppe Meazza - and this could help Liverpool.

Samir Handanovic is current first choice for Inter, but with his contract expiring at the end of next season, he has been putting off agreeing a new deal. The Slovenian stopper, 30, has been linked with the Reds in the past, by the Mirror, and the arrival of Cech to the San Siro will increase the likelihood of his exit.

He is already against signing a new deal with Inter, and if a transfer was agreed for Cech, Handanovic would know that his place in the first-team would come under threat.

A very talented goalkeeper, he is more than good enough to be starting stopper for a league chasing side, but without the fears of a big money fee to prise him away with his expiring contract.

Liverpool may not be able to offer him Champions League football next season, but that should not matter with Inter’s recent European situation, and the Reds could do much worse than moving for the experienced goalkeeper on a cut-price deal - thanks to their West London rivals.
