Deila praises John Guidetti's performance against Partick Thistle despite not scoring

Ronny Deila has praised John Guidetti's performance against Partick Thistle.

Celtic moved one step closer to the Scottish Premiership title, defeating Partick Thistle 2-0 on Wednesday night - and manager Ronny Deila praised striker John Guidetti after the game, with quotes reported by the official Celtic Twitter account.

Goals from Kris Commons and Stefan Johansen gave Celtic a comfortable win, meaning they sit seven points clear of Aberdeen with a game in hand.

With a treble-winning season moving ever closer for Deila and his side, the Norwegian singled striker Guidetti out for praise after the win over Partick Thistle.

The Swedish forward is currently on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season, and has scored 14 goals in 31 appearance this term.

Out of contract this summer, it's unclear whether the 22-year-old will sign a permanent deal with the Bhoys at the end of the campaign - but his run of just three goals in the last 19 games doesn't bode well for his chances of earning a contract.

Regardless, Deila was impressed with his display against Partick Thistle - even though he didn't manage to find the back of the net again.

Guidetti needs goals before the end of the season in order to convince Celtic to offer him a permanent stay at the club - even if Deila is still impressed with what he's seeing from Guidetti.
