Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praised striker Olivier Giroud at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Burnley this weekend.
Wenger suggested that Giroud is in the best form since he arrived at the club, as the forward looks to build on a brilliant record of five goals in his last four games across all competitions.
“He's in outstanding form and has improved the quality of his game,” said Wenger.
“He's playing his best football. He has the right focus to improve his game every day.”
Giroud deserves credit because he’s maintaining a status as the main man up front for the Gunners in a squad, which includes some superb attacking options in Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
|Position||Team||Goals||Goal Assists||Big Chances Created Per Game||Touches Per Game||Appearances||Mins Played|
|Sergio Agüero||FW||Man City||17||6||0.15||41.81||26||1,918|
He has fewer goals than four other players but is creating more chances per game on average and has a higher number of average touches per game than Charlie Austin.
The challenge for Giroud over the rest of the season is to try and build on the form he’s shown in recent games and use it to his advantage.
Arsenal have a very slim chance of winning the league and what better way for Giroud to win over his doubters than to score the goals, which power the Gunners to the title.
However, Wenger is a realist and will focus on the need for Giroud to perform on one game to the next.
Long may his impressive form continue.
