Aston Villa are reported to be already making plans for the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa will make the signing of a left-back a priority this summer, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.
The Claret and Blues are already making recruitment plans as Tim Sherwood looks to strengthen his squad, and his lack of options at left-back is apparently a worry.
At the moment Sherwood has the likes of Aly Cissokho and Kieran Richardson available to him, but he hasn't been fully convinced by either and is said to be looking at bringing in a more reliable defender when the transfer window re-opens.
The hope is that Villa will still be a Premier League side at the point, so that they can attract one of their first-choice targets.
At the moment the Claret and Blues are in the thick of a relegation battle and Sherwood will be desperate to bolster his squad to ensure that a repeat of this season isn't on the cards, if he does guide the Midlands outfit safety.
The Birmingham Mail also suggest that Sherwood will be keen to take a look at Joe Bennett over the summer.
The young defender has impressed during a loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion in the Championship this season and he could be drafted back into the Villa first-team ranks next term.
