England legend Ray Wilkins has explained what he loves about Neil Redfearn.
Redfearn has earned widespread praise for the work he’s done at Elland Road since he took over earlier this season, work that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the former Chelsea assistant.
“Neil’s a good old pro, he’s got a bit of old school which I love and the supporters keep turning up in their droves, which they will because it’s what was once a magnificent football club,” said Wilkins.
Redfearn is both popular and effective at Leeds because he approaches his job with a theme of common sense.
He does the basics as a manager effectively and also has a very good relationship with the younger players in the club’s academy.
He’s always very frank and honest in the way he talks about the team, the club and his own position and that has allowed him to develop a meaningful relationship with the club’s large support base.
His job was to find a way to drag Leeds up the table and away from the bottom three where they were lingering when he first took over.
He’s done that and is now looking up and hopefully, he will be kept on at the club beyond this season when his contract is reviewed.
