Former Newcastle United star Nobby Solano has explained to the Chronicle what he feels is the worst thing about the club’s current situation for the fans.
Solano has admitted to frustration over the way Newcastle are currently being handled at the top level and has suggested that all the majority of fans want to see is a little transparency from those in positions of power.
“We don’t know what Mike Ashley’s ambition is really. Is he desperate to sell the club, is that why we don’t buy players?” he said.
“We just don’t know what the destiny is for the club and that’s the worst part about it for the fans.”
“The way it has been in the last three years is that the club have not shown any progress.”
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley could go a long way to improving the situation and his relationship with supporters by making a simple statement over a number of issues.
Fans will be wondering who the manager will be next season, whether the club is going to sell key players this summer and what’s going on in relation to the sort of targets who might be coming in and whether there is money to spend.
Ashley can take the sting out of the whole situation by explaining his plans for the club. Even if he has purely selfish motives, Newcastle fans will be happier knowing exactly what’s going on at their club.
The focus in terms of the football has moved onto the game against Liverpool next week, with a very difficult visit to Anfield next on the fixture list.
