Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers may both be disappointed with the final outcome of last night's encounter at Villa Park, but no-one can doubt the spirit of the two sides as they played out an enthralling game in the Premier League that finished 3-3 - with both teams in the midst of a battle to preserve their top-flight status.
The lead changed hands three times before a late Christian Benteke equaliser - rounding off his hat-trick - secured Tim Sherwood's side a point that just keeps them outside the relegation zone, with QPR still two points adrift of safety, and a further point behind Villa.
QPR were buoyed by a big win over West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, while Aston Villa were trying to pick up something after suffering two successive defeats following a positive start to life under Tim Sherwood. For the West Midlands locals, at least the football at Villa Park now seems to be a lot easier on the eye than that served up under Paul Lambert.
Matt Phillips shone again for the R's by opening the scoring, Charlie Austin may have thought he had won it when he put them 3-2 up - though he could count himself lucky even be on the field at that time.
