McArthur was a team-mate of new Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell.
One of the key men at Crystal Palace in their recent good run of form is James McArthur.
McArthur arrived from Wigan Athletic in the summer, for a fee reported by London 24 to be in the region of £7 million and he has gone on to become a regular member in the Crystal Palace first-team.
Of course he has left a Wigan side that is now battling relegation from the Championship. Wigan currently sit in 23rd place ahead, eight points off of Rotherham and safety.
With just five games remaining, they look to be down and out.
With that in mind the club recently sacked their second manager of the season. Controversial former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay was relieved of his duties almost immediately after the defeat to Derby County on Monday. He follows Uwe Rosler in being sacked by The Lactics this season.
In his place they have assigned former captain Gary Caldwell. The Scot retired earlier in the season with a hip injury after 111 games for the club.
McArthur has now congratulated his former team-mate and new boss of his former team through Twitter – and wished him luck with his new venture.
Wigan fans will be hoping the Crystal Palace man is right regarding the success Caldwell might bring.
