17-year-old Youri Tielemans is reported to have attracted interest from across Europe.
Atletico Madrid appear to have won the race to sign Belgian wonderkid, Youri Tielemans, according to Spanish sports outlet AS, who report that officials from his current club, Anderlecht, met with their counterparts from the reigning La Liga champions on Tuesday.
The report claims that representatives of Tielemans and Anderlecht have agreed a deal 'in principal' for a move this summer, although the exact terms of the deal have yet to be specified.
However, what is clear is that Atletico Madrid have made an exhaustive assessment of the highly talented young midfield starlet before making their final move.
As such, Simeone's side have stolen a march on numerous rivals throughout Europe when it comes to securing the signature of Tielemans. As reported by the Daily Mail early in March, Premier League giants Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal were all linked with monitoring the 17-year-old's progress, with a view to making moves of their own.
Liverpool were also said to be scouting the player, per the Mirror, along with clubs from Germany, such as Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich, while Borussia Dortmund were reported to have already made an official bid of £4.5 million, rejected by Anderlecht.
Despite his youth, Tielemans has taken Belgian football by storm and has been widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in European football, making his breakthrough aged just 16 last season while becoming the youngest from his country to debut in the Champions League.
During the current 2014-15 campaign with Anderlecht, Tielemans has been practically untouchable in the starting eleven, making 30 appearances in the Belgian Pro League along with a further eight in the Champions League.
