Uwe Rosler says crunch time is yet to arrive for Manuel Pellegrini

Former Manchester City forward Uwe Rosler says this weekend could determine whether Manuel Pellegrini keeps his job at the club.

Former Manchester City striker Uwe Rosler explained on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show for talkSPORT that he feels crunch time is yet to arrive for Manuel Pellegrini.

Pellegrini is under massive pressure following a 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace in the Premier League last night, which has virtually signified the end of City’s chances of retaining the Premier League title.

However, Rosler has urged the need for caution and doesn’t expect any cut throat decisions before the derby game against Manchester United this weekend.

“I think it's time for cool heads – I think the derby this weekend will be important in terms of its manner – I expect us to analyse things moving forward and then make a decision,” he said.

Pellegrini has always maintained that he doesn’t feel any pressure in relation to his job, but it looks likely that the club will now end this season without a trophy in the bank.

The club can take heart from overturning an eight point gap with six games left to win their first Premier League title in the modern era, but whether Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea will make the same mistakes as Manchester United did that season is doubtful.

Regardless of City’s recent form, the side should be able to raise themselves to put in a good performance this weekend.

City have enjoyed some recent success in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford and it’s important they go into the game with a professional attitude looking to give themselves the best possible chance of securing three points, which will take a small amount of pressure away from the boss.
