Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor is refusing to give up on his Tottenham Hotspur career, and not all fans are willing to write him off either.
He used his Twitter page to respond to speculation over his future, posting: "Contrary to reports, I am very happy at Tottenham and will do everything to fight for my place. I have a year to go on my contract and love playing in the EPL, best league in world! #COYS."
The forward has been out of favour throughout 2015, and The Mail reported earlier this month that chairman Daniel Levy is determined to ditch him this summer.
Adebayor however has a year left on his deal and is on a high wage, and appears determined to dig in and see out his contract and fight for his future.
Spurs also have a decision to make regarding Roberto Soldado, who it may be easier to find a buyer for, and Adebayor is showing that on his part at least he is not calling time on his spell at Tottenham just yet.
Adebayor's message drew a predictably angry response from fans who wanted him out, with many tweets too rude to publish. Here is a selection of the negative ones, but these do not tell he entire story.
@E_Adebayor and when your current deal is up, only then will you will start to turn up. Same old story mate.— rich (@richpennockTHFC) April 7, 2015
Clearly there is a real feeling of frustration among fans regarding Adebayor, but not all are willing to write him off just yet, with many messaging the striker to show their support.
@E_Adebayor Pleased to hear it Ade. Just keep doing your best, that's all you can do. The ignorant views of some don't represent all.— Kurt Corbett (@Kurtainz) April 7, 2015
@E_Adebayor Hope you get back to top form and give plenty more salutes. Great watching you at the Lane!— Jon Harvey (@jondharvey) April 7, 2015
If Pochettino actually showed faith in Adebayor you lot would realise we have a tremendous player that we should be grateful for— Kane is our Always (@CharmanDier) April 7, 2015
Why is everyone acting negatively towards what Adebayor tweeted? Surely it's a good thing?— macca (@macca_THFC) April 7, 2015
