Report: Spurs competing with five top-flight clubs to sign Championship wonderkid

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal all reportedly want Fulham's Patrick Roberts.

Tottenham Hotspur are competing with five other Premier League sides to capture Fulham youngster Patrick Roberts, according to a report in the Telegraph.

Roberts has been tipped as a star of the future on the back of his performances in the Championship and at England youth level, and there are a number of sides believed to be looking at recruiting him in the summer.

Tottenham, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all said to be competing for Roberts' signature, making him one of the most in-demand prospects in the country.

Fulham are understood to be desperate to keep hold of Roberts, but they will realise that their chances of doing so are unlikely.

The 18-year-old's contract expires next year and it means that Fulham need to cash-in on the youngster this summer, if they are to generate a significant fee.

It seems that there could well be a bidding war for the winger's signature between some of the country's top clubs, but Spurs will be hoping to emerge victorious should they enter the transfer scramble.

Tottenham are looking to recruit young players to enhance their squad and have already shown their desire to capture some of the best English talents in the lower leagues after bringing in Dele Alli from MK Dons.
