Alex Iwobi scored a stunning hat-trick as Arsenal's under-21s beat Stoke's side 4-1.
He is pictured above netting his second of the game, outshining more experienced teammates Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby who were also given run outs in the side as they edged back towards first team fitness.
Iwobi has now has six goals in 12 appearances for Arsenal's under-21 side, and was on the bench for the first team against Galatasaray earlier this season in the Champions League.
Despite representing England at under-16 and under-17 youth level, he has been convinced recently to switch to play for Nigeria, as reported The BBC earlier this year.
Iwobi's uncle is Super Eagles legend Jay Jay Okocha, and Iwobi attended a squad get together with Nigeria's under-23 team earlier this year. His FIFA clearance to switch nationalities is still officially pending.
He scored two of his goals in the first half, nestling both in the same corner of the net, before chipping Stoke's goalkeeper in the 90th minute to score his third. Stephy Mavididi netted Arsenal's other goal midway through the second half.
The 18-year-old's hat-trick certainly caught the eye of supporters, and here is how they reacted on Twitter to his performance...
Not to overreact, but Alex Iwobi should probably start on Saturday and will likely win the Ballon D'Or this year.— Tim Stillman (@Stillberto) April 7, 2015
