The Spurs striker went with one of the big-money superstars that replaced Gareth Bale when selecting Tottenham's most skilful player.
Tottenham forward Harry Kane has been disclosing a whole series of facts about his Spurs teammates on Sky Sports in recent days, and given that the club have long been associated with entertaining football, it should be of interest to most Spurs fans to find out the England international picked Erik Lamela as the team's most skilful individual.
“Erik Lamela’s very skilful," answered Kane when queried on the best in the squad. "He’s got a load of skills in the bag and he obviously scored that skilful Rabona goal not so long ago.”
Though he may have been tempted to select himself given the deftness of touch, and quality of goals the 21-year-old has displayed at times this season, it is perhaps no surprise that Kane has plumped for the Argentinian.
Despite a disappointing couple of seasons in England, one thing the former Roma man obviously has in abundance is skill and flair - even if he hasn't demonstrated it as often as he would have liked.
Lamela's Rabona goal remains one of the most outrageous strikes of the 2014-15 season, even if last weekend supplied a bevy of superb alternatives, while the winger also scored quality efforts against Brighton and Burnley.
Considering he is Tottenham's record signing, Spurs fans may have hoped that the 23-year-old really kicked on with his career in North London, especially considering he has stayed fit for much of the season and also has a couple fellow Argentinians at White Hart Lane in Federico Fazio, and even more importantly, manager Mauricio Pochettino.
But it hasn't been the case, and Lamela has 4 goals and 8 assists in 39 games this season, with only one of those coming in the league. He hasn't started in any of the club's last five games, and there may well be question marks on his Tottenham future next season.
